Eightfold Path

By: Digital
Rating 5 stars

A band recently introduced to D1 is Eightfold Path. 8FP consists of Matt Harvey, vocals, Mike Kilun, guitars, Shaun McInnis, guitars, and Andrew Soule, drums. 8FP is still considered a fledgling band, only being conceived in 2002 as a conceptual project. 8FP style of writing and composing music has left the traditional methods behind. Instead, they've taken a more psychological and spiritual approach to things. Writing from the heart, they write about life experiences, cultures, and people. Bringing a more realistic and humanist nature to the music. Thus, it allows for all people to show some interest in their music because it can play into anyone's emotion or experience they've had. Artists such as, Zao, Faith No More, Glassjaw, Vision of Disorder, At the Gates, Depeche Mode, and Radiohead influence 8FP. 8fp sounds like a band that has been around forever. The vocals fist assault the ears with raw, loud bellowing backed up by angry guitars with a melody to spare. The drums even out the vocals and guitars and smooth them over with hard driving beats. The bass helps tie in with the drums with it's grinding riffs.

8FP is currently working with D1 and possibly will be joining The International Battle of The Bands. As of now, 8FP is hard at work on making their new EP entitled Time and Place. The EP's scheduled release is late March to early April 2003. Be sure to give it a listen to.

This band is one of the best hardcore bands I have heard in a long time. They compare only second to Zao. 8FP doesn't have that generic "hardcore" sound at all. 8FP most certainly will make huge waves in the musical industry. I could see them changing the way people listen to hardcore music. It has fresh beats and riffs, powerful, bellowing vocals, amazing double kick drum action. Each instrument has a life with characteristics all it's own. Each respective player brings forth their own knowledge and understanding of the music. When you blend all of it together your ears receive a musical harmony of sounds, which give off vibrant energy. It fully charges your system and make you want to get out there and do something.
