Driving the Effect Releases - Pacheco Community Center

A little after 8pm, Eightfold Path took the floor in the community hall (taking the place of the formerly scheduled Splyt), and with a dramatic intro, they busted forth with hard, grinding riffs. The songs were quick and to the point with in-your-face choruses mixed with classic metal growls. Singer Matt Harvey paced back and forth like a frantic madman and then lay on his back singing to the ceiling while guitarists Shaun McInnis and Mike Kilun provided good, melodic energy. With thunderous, stick-like bass riffs, Eightfold Path burst into the last song of their set, my favorite, which had a tweaky guitar intro and emotional choruses. On a more technical side, the song had great groovy drumbeats and offered good trade-offs in harmony between guitars.
